Sham Elneseem, That official holiday that has no logic reason but that everyone wouldn't have the energy to work anyway since most Egyptians ( i didn't say all because I'm cheerful ) would be in the fesee5 and green onions coma.
Dear Pharaohs celebrated the blossoms of the spring in this particular day and because we Egyptians are faithful Pharaoh followers, we attack fesee5 shops ( stinky rotten salted fish ), Renga shops ( smoked salted fish ) and basal akhdar sellers like there is no tomorrow, days before the big sham elneseem day.
And that's why my dear neighbor Auntie Mary paid me a visit last night with her little maid who carried a small wrap with so much pride and a big grin on her face.
after some gossip she left and i checked the wrap thanking god that the kids were asleep.
It was a single fesee5a wrapped tightly in a plastic bag which is wrapped tightly in another plastic bag which were wrapped - not tightly - in a news paper then finally wrapped in a plastic bag...four lemons accompanied the fesee5a in the bag...fesee5a zest!!
The dear lady made all the precautions to avoid any smell leakage...but, didn't she think i would open the bag...someday!!
I believe that first Impressions last, and that's why i decided to spare the fesee5a's life as i always had a special admiration for Intellectual...well.... creatures!
The nice fesee5a was lying on her back ( yes, I think she's a her! ) looking up and reading the newspaper. That was some smart fesee5a i tell u...she curled her slim body around so she could fit in the small prolonged plastic bag while maintaining a position to read the paper.
Fesee5 is becoming so precious indeed, even the government think so.
Yesterday, the health minister announced that the vaccine for the fesee5 poisoning will cost 20000 EGP.
so, Not only could the Egyptians may - la sama7 Allah - get fatal poisoning, they would also have to pay 20 thousand pounds for picking the wrong fesee5a.
Now, for the grand finale of the post, Sham Elneseem recipe:
Bring a fesee5a ( a good one or you'll pay :D ), skin it, fillet it then cut it into small pieces.
put it in a plate ...squeeze as much lemon as you can handle then sprinkle some oil, sunflower oil would be Ideal...come on, sprinkle some more...don't be shy!
On the side, put a bunch of fresh green onions and voila!...shem elneseem ya m3alem...warreeni shatartak :D
